With more than 280 shops surrounding the leisure complex’s iconic 40-metre HSBC Rain Vortex centrepiece attraction, about a quarter of Jewel’s retail mix features flagship stores, new-to-Singapore brands and new concepts by existing brands.
SINGAPORE – Jewel Changi Airport (Jewel), a lifestyle and entertainment hub situated at the heart of Singapore Changi Airport, has been accorded the ‘Most Innovative Retail & Entertainment Project’ award at the RLI (Retail & Leisure International) Awards 2020 – an industry event which celebrates retail excellence.
Ms Hung Jean, Chief Executive Officer, Jewel Changi Airport Devt. said, “When conceptualising the retail experience at Jewel, much effort was invested to curate new-to-market concepts for a unique retail experience. This included collaborating with operators to bring in international brands that had yet to set their footprint in Singapore, working with existing brands to introduce new concepts, as well as setting the stage for familiar homegrown brands. We are honoured to receive this accolade, which affirm our vision to integrate retail, nature and play elements on such a scale. We share this honour with our partners and tenants who have journeyed alongside us to create new experiences for our guests in Jewel.”
With more than 280 shops surrounding the leisure complex’s iconic 40-metre HSBC Rain Vortex centrepiece attraction, about a quarter of Jewel’s retail mix features flagship stores, new-to-Singapore brands and new concepts by existing brands. 11 large format duplex stores offer immersive retail experiences along the second level of Jewel. Shoppers can experience a world of wonder traversing seamlessly between nature and retail, as they step into the shopping corridors of Jewel from the walking trails of the Shiseido Forest Valley, an indoor garden which spans four storeys.
The Global RLI Awards 2020 recognises and celebrates the most innovative and imaginative retail and leisure concepts across the globe with 15 different award categories. The judging panel consists of top experts in the fields of retail, leisure and architecture. The judges believed that Jewel celebrates the most outstanding contribution to the retail and entertainment sector over the past year and creates an extraordinary experience for customers and tenants alike. The 15th edition was a digital award show which was live streamed from the United Kingdom and watched by viewers globally.
Jewel had also previously won the ‘Most Anticipated Opening’ at the RLI 2019 awards. The 135,700 sqm complex opened its doors in April 2019 and offers a multi-faceted experience that includes gardens and play attractions, unique shopping and dining concepts, as well as airport and accommodation facilities.
