JetBlue and Cathay Pacific announce interline agreement for new connections to Asia Pacific

JetBlue and Cathay Pacific plan to offer the ease of single-ticket travel and one-stop baggage check-in for travellers transferring between the airlines at New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

JetBlue Airways, New York’s Hometown Airline, and Cathay Pacific, the world renowned home carrier of Hong Kong, today announced they have entered into an interline agreement that will link each other’s networks and bring new flight options to travellers between Asia Pacific and the Americas.

Through the arrangement, effective later this summer, JetBlue and Cathay Pacific plan to offer the ease of single-ticket travel and one-stop baggage check-in for travellers transferring between the airlines at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

JetBlue is the largest domestic airline at JFK, where Cathay Pacific offers an unrivalled schedule of four daily flights to Hong Kong International Airport – the most flights between JFK and Asia of any airline. At LAX, Cathay Pacific offers as many as three daily flights to Hong Kong that seamlessly connect to JetBlue’s transcontinental services to the U.S. Northeast and Florida.

Recognized around the globe for its amenities and service excellence – including most recently for having the World’s Best Business Class in the annual Skytrax World Airline Awards – Cathay Pacific and its sister airline Dragonair offer travellers easy access to virtually every major city in mainland China, the Indian Subcontinent and dozens of destinations across Asia Pacific including Bali, Bangkok, Cebu, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, and Taipei via Hong Kong.

U.S.-bound travellers will enjoy convenient transfers from Cathay Pacific onward to JetBlue destinations including Boston, Massachusetts; Buffalo/Niagara Falls, New York; Charlotte and  Raleigh, North Carolina; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; San Juan, Puerto Rico; and seven cities in Florida including Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, and Tampa. “JetBlue and Cathay Pacific share a similar philosophy of giving travellers an experience to remember,” said Scott Resnick, JetBlue’s director of airline partnerships. “We are proud to partner with an airline of Cathay Pacific’s caliber to give our customers new options for travel throughout Asia.”

Known for its award-winning customer service, JetBlue will offer travellers connecting from Cathay Pacific’s transpacific services a premium experience that includes all-leather seating, unlimited free snacks and drinks, plus the most legroom in economy class (based on average fleet-wide seat pitch) as well as the most free live entertainment of any U.S. airline. JetBlue also operates one of America’s youngest and most fuel-efficient airline fleets, with 175 Airbus and EMBRAER aircraft.
