Jet Airways expands global route network

Jet Airways has underlined its intention to become one of the major players in the airline industry, with the announcement of three new international services to Abu Dhabi, San Francisco and Hong Kong. The airline currently flies to 59 destinations in India and beyond, including New York, Toronto, Singapore and Bangkok.

Asia Pacific Route Expansion

On 14 April, Jet Airways will introduce a new daily direct service between Mumbai and Hong Kong, using Boeing B737-800 aircraft in a two-class configuration. The new service will bring the airline’s Asia-Pacific route total to four, including Singapore, Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur.

New and Increased Services to Gulf Region

Jet Airways will start direct flights to Abu Dhabi from Mumbai and Delhi on April 23 2008 with Airbus A330 aircraft configured in two classes.  This will be the airline’s first foray into the United Arab Emirates and expands its Gulf route network to five destinations which include the already established routes of Kuwait, Bahrain, Muscat and Doha.

Jet Airways will also increase its services in the Gulf region with the introduction of daily direct flights on the Kochi-Doha and Mumbai-Muscat sectors, effective April 18 and April 21, 2008 respectively.

Connecting Mumbai and San Francisco via Shanghai

Jet Airways will become the first private Indian airline to connect the financial heart of India, Mumbai, with San Francisco – via Shanghai – daily from May 5, 2008.**  The new Boeing B777 three-class service to San Francisco International Airport will be the airline’s fourth daily departure from India to North America, following the launch of new services to New York’s JFK and Newark airports, and Toronto Pearson International Airport, during the past year.

The launch of these three new routes brings the total new international services launched in the past 6 months to 9, further strengthening Jet Airways’ already impressive network, which now includes 19 international destinations.

**  Subject to government approval.

Naresh Goyal, Chairman, Jet Airways commented: “We have seen increased demand for expansion of our route network and the introduction of these new routes enables Jet Airways to grow its presence in the US, Gulf and Asia-Pacific regions and we don’t plan to stop there. My vision is that by 2010, the airline should be rated among the top five airlines in the world.  Having changed the way people fly in India, we are now taking to the world our very own brand of service and style that epitomises the spirit of New India.”
