Japanspecialist Tour Operator “overwhelmed by strong demand” following Japan border opening

Japanspecialist’s seven shops across Europe already receiving high levels of bookings following Japan opening borders to independent tourists. Company launches innovative online Japan trip consultation service for fixed rate fee.

Japanspecialist – the tour operator brand that is part of JTB Corporation – has confirmed that it is already “overwhelmed by strong demand” for its services following the news announced on 31st of August that Japan would fully open its borders to tourists once again as of 7th of September.

Japanspecialist has been synonymous with arranging tours to Japan since 1912 and, following the challenges faced by the company during Japan’s closure to tourism, all seven shops are now already experiencing a strong return in bookings.

In addition to offering the full range of tour operator services – including tailor-made tours, guided tours, self-drive tours, excursions, seat-in-coach and luxury Travel – Japanspecialist is now also offering customers an online Japan trip consultation service that costs €25 and is reimbursable when the customer books.

As a part of JTB Corporation, the largest and oldest travel agency in Japan, Japanspecialist draws upon JTB’s extensive Japanese network and is able to offer to its travellers unrivalled experiences upon arrival in the destination.

Selling both directly to consumers and also in the B2B channel – covering the UK, Hungarian, Benelux, Italian, French, Spanish and Danish markets – the multilingual team is highly knowledgeable about the country due to each member of the team having an average of 15+ years selling Japan tours, spending around three weeks a year in Japan and arranging tens of thousands of trips over the years.

Karolina Simon, Head of Japanspecialist comments: “Despite many destinations opening up to in-bound tourism last year, Japan has been one of the last to open and this has been an incredibly hard period for us – as well as for those travellers whose trips have been continually delayed and rebooked.

“Nonetheless we have used this time wisely, getting ready for the moment the borders open and building a stronger-than-ever portfolio with improved infrastructure and a new multilingual website – significantly benefiting strongly from JTB Corporation’s unrivalled Japanese network.

“Japan has always been a popular destination among European travelers, but since the reopening news announced on 31st of August we been overwhelmed by strong demand. Nearly three years of closure and the current exchange rate of the Yen, being at its most favourable for Europeans in many years, are providing an extra impetus for those craving a memorable and authentic experience in one of the most mind-blowing destinations on the planet.”
