International SOS meets demand in southwest China

International SOS, the medical and travel security services company, is expanding its operations in China with the opening of a new office in Chengdu ahead of Fortune Global Forum.

CHENGDU – The investment of International SOS in Chengdu reflects the company’s growing presence in the rapidly developing Southwest China market – a huge growth area for international businesses. The Chengdu office inauguration comes on the eve of the Fortune Global Forum, which takes place from 6-8 June. International SOS is the Forum’s chosen medical partner, providing services for up to 500 attendees.

As the newest addition to International SOS’ network of three offices and five clinics in mainland China, the Chengdu office will bring the group’s operations closer to its customers in the region. Co-founder, Chairman and CEO of International SOS, Mr Arnaud Vaissie said, “In light of the rapid rise of Southwest China as a global economic powerhouse, Chengdu has become an ideal location for companies to set up offices and manufacturing facilities.

International SOS is a company that follows its clients and serves their medical needs wherever they may be. With so many companies in Chengdu today, the establishment of our office will enable us to support our clients’ needs in the region even more.”

Since 1989, International SOS has been a pioneer in establishing international standards of healthcare in China. The company has five international-standard medical clinics (Beijing, Tianjin, TEDA, Shenzhen and Nanjing) and two 24-hour Assistance Centres (Beijing and Hong Kong). It also runs on-site clinics for more than 40 clients in China and manages 140,000 medical and security cases each year in the country. We continuously assess the market for potential new offices and clinics.

International SOS is the preferred medical services partner for over 100 Chinese companies and government agencies, looking after their Chinese expatriates and business travellers abroad.

John Williams, Managing Director of International SOS China, said, “International SOS has over 20 years of experience in China. Our role is to help companies keep their employees healthy, safe and secure – no matter where they are. We were proud to be a medical partner at the Beijing Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2008. Today we are just as proud to offer our services and expertise to those attending the Fortune Forum in Chengdu.”
