IndiGo expects over 80% load factor in 2012

Low cost airline IndiGo is looking at expanding its domestic and international network over the winter season 2012.

Having launched 61 new flights since January 2012, Low Cost Carrier IndiGo is looking to further its domestic network. Sharing details on the performance and expansion of IndiGo, Sanjay Kumar, Chief Commercial Officer, IndiGo, said that IndiGo will increase its frequency on Bangkok – Kolkata, Singapore-Chennai and Kochi-Dubai routes among others and will continue to expand its domestic network. Recently, the Ministry of Civil Aviation announced the opening of 11 new international sectors under the Bilateral Air Services Agreement and allocated seats to Indian carriers such as Air India, Jet Airways, SpiceJet and IndiGo to fly on various international routes in summer and winter 2012. According to the new plan, IndiGo has been allocated 84 services a week in summer and 125 services a week in winter which is in addition to the existing allocation.

According to SATTE, IndiGo, with a market share of 21.9 per cent as of March 2012, also command a healthy load factor on both domestic and international routes. “We witnessed a load factor of 82.6 per cent in 2011 and will maintain this load factor in 2012 too,” Kumar opined.
