Inaugural Korean Air flight now connects Barcelona to Far East Asia

The flight service between Barcelona and East Asia has been one of the most unserved routes in the world and previously Barcelona did not have a direct flight to any Far East destination.

Hong Kong – Korean Air‘s maiden flight KE915 from Seoul, South Korea to Barcelona, Spain touched down at Barcelona International Airportat 20:10 on Friday 28th April. The inaugural flight was welcomed by officials from the airport and city, before a ribbon-cutting ceremony took place.

Present at the ceremony were the Director of Barcelona Airport, Ms. Sonia Corrochano, the Director of the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Adrover Jaume and the South Korean Ambassador to Spain, Mr. Park Hee Kwon as well as Korean Air’s Regional Director for Europe, Mr. Park Byung Ryool. Korean Air was welcomed to the Catalan region’s capital with warm greetings and speeches and Korean Air’s Mr. Park thanked the guests and pledged Korean Air’s commitment to the development of trade between the two countries and support for the promotion of tourism to the region.


KE915, the maiden flight from Seoul to Barcelona gets water cannon salute after landing at Barcelona International Airport

The flight service between Barcelona and East Asia has been one of the most unserved routes in the world and previously Barcelona did not have a direct flight to any Far East destination.

Korean Air commenced the three times weekly non-stop flight service between Incheon and Barcelona on 28th April 2017, utilizing B777-200ER aircraft. The flight leaves Incheon, Seoul at 13:00, arriving in Barcelona at 20:30. It then departs Barcelona at 22:10, arriving back in Incheon at 17:30 the next day.

Korean Air’s new service between South Korea and the Catalan capital Barcelona now provides a convenient schedule for travel to Seoul and with easy connections at Incheon International Airport it opens up access to a wide range of destinations in East Asia and Oceania such as Shanghai, Tokyo, Osaka, Sydney and Brisbane, for both business and leisure travel.

Barcelona is one of the world’s leading tourist, economic, trade fair and cultural centers. The city is well known for its automotive and pharmaceutical industries and has an abundance of tourist attractions. The city is known for its art and architecture, in particular the fantastical Sagrada Família church designed by Antoni Gaudí and there is also a famous Picasso Museum.
