IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center operates greenly

From energy efficiency and water conservation to recycling and embracing such practices, by all means IMPACT Exhibition Management Co. Ltd does its part to greatly conserve the environment, adding more years to the planet that we live in.

In recent years, environmental practices have taken a bold step across the whole industrial spectrum, and worldwide business operators have become more environmentally conscious and adopted such green implementations to leverage their overall operations. From energy efficiency and water conservation to recycling and embracing such practices, by all means IMPACT Exhibition Management Co. Ltd does its part to greatly conserve the environment, adding more years to the planet that we live in.

The MICE sector, one of the most lucrative niches within the tourism industry, is susceptible to overuse of material, and since IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center became aware of such issue, the venue has been taking active steps to initiate this environmental protection program first within its company. The venue encourage employees to minimize material waste by:

• Reducing paper waste – all written materials are printed double-sided.
• Creating a shared drive to store all files, to which employees in the network have access.
• Recycling business badges to HR department upon our leaving the company.
• Going digital with documents by means of emailing instead of printing out all documents.
• Giving our office appliances a break after a long use by unplugging computer and printers over the weekend.
• Turning off all lights in office, coffee room, and along the aisle before leaving the office.

Mr. Loy Joon How, General Manager of IMPACT Exhibition Management Co., Ltd, said: “The MICE industry generates a fair amount of waste and materials that are unfriendly to the environment, e.g. booth constructions, signage, carpets, paper and transportations. As a venue, we are committed to educating our customers to adopt green and environmental friendly solutions for their events at our venue and to do our best to preserve the environment.

All of its restaurants including banqueting and catering services source products that are locally grown, in season, and organic to ensure freshness and high quality standards. Its F&B Department buys organic rice from local producers and uses it for cooking.

Its facilities feature water-efficient landscaping using rain water stored in its man-made lake for all landscape maintenance to reduce water consumption.

IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center is replacing artificial lighting with LED technology across the venue to enhance its ISO 50001 Energy Management Standard certification, and soon the work will be complete entirely. In addition, all signage such as posters, paper documents, flyers, etc. throughout the facility will be retrofitted with the digital system. All escalators are shut off during non-event use. The air-conditioning at exhibit spaces and pre-function areas is left off.

For external efforts, the venue convinces and works hand in hand with its event organizers, customers, vendors, and partners to conduct shows and events greenly by using mostly recyclable material and avoid carpets for their shows. Customers are allowed to jazz up their booths freely and not obligated to abide with its suggestions. However, for its own shows which consist of nearly 15 exhibitions, the venue is committed to embracing the essence of sustainable implementations as listed above.
