IMPACT adopts management standards to secure Asia’s top five venue

IMPACT, Thailand’s largest exhibition and convention venue, emphasizes its vision to be ranked among Asia’s top five exhibition and convention centres. The exhibition centre has adopted international standardization for security, food safety and energy to ensure trust from domestic and overseas MICE partners and the country’s MICE facilities.

BANGKOK- Already the largest and most modern convention facilities in Thailand, IMPACT management wants now to be among the top 5 convention and exhibition centres in Asia.

Paul Kanjanapas, Managing Director of IMPACT Exhibition Management Co., Ltd. said, IMPACT became Thailand’s first exhibition venue to be certified TIS22300 or MICE Security Management System for Meeting Incentive Convention and Exhibition; ISO 22300 or Food Safety Management System; and ISO 50001 or Energy Management System.  As one of the country’s key players in the MICE industry, the company expects that this achievement will also benefit the country’s position in MICE destination ranking.

Since 2009, the venue has been certified TIS22300 by Thailand Industrial Standards Institute under the Ministry of Industry. The success was a result from IMPACT’s commitment to ensure high criteria for security. The centre has been implementing measurements, deploying manpower, as well as equipment such as over 500 closed-circuit televisions to cover its exhibition areas, entrances, and parking spaces. It also applied thermo-scan devices to monitor influenza.

Apart from the security measurement, the company also places its emphasis on environment sustainability and energy consumption which concerns all operations in MICE activities. It already conducted energy saving campaigns toward staff to create more awareness and established a committee to monitor energy consumption and related activities.

Throughout the exhibition halls, IMPACT uses energy saving light bulbs and controls and manages the use of air conditioners and chilling machines. All these policies helped to reduce energy consumption and saved Bt13 million per year on energy expenses. It was successfully awarded ISO50001 certification in 2011 by the Management System Certification Institute (Thailand).
In addition, IMPACT is the country’s first MICE venue to have achieved the ISO22300 certification. It invested over Bt30 million to ensure that it’s kitchens and equipment are up to the international standard and has been conducting training for kitchen staff and F&B employees to ensure food safety. The ISO22300 was issued by SGS (Thailand) and UKAS (The United Kingdom Accreditation Service).

According to Mr. Kanjanapas, these achievements enhance IMPACT’s confidence and create trust with our business partners. “With our commitment in development and measures to keep up the international standard, we will enable us to host over 800 events a year and be ranked among the top five of Asia’s leading exhibition and convention venues.”
