HRG launches landmark scenario modelling tool to determine most cost-effective meeting location

Hogg Robinson Group (HRG), the world class corporate travel services company, has launched a landmark meetings management tool that enables clients to determine, through scenario modelling, the most cost-effective way of meeting colleagues from across the world.

The new technology analyses historical patterns of behaviour and spend, considers the number of people travelling from each destination, and works out the most cost-effective place for them to meet. It was originally developed by HRG Consulting in response to the requirements of a global banking client. It is already proving its value, expected to save the client approximately 20 percent of events and meetings budget.

Paul Dear, HRG’s Director of Client Consultancy, says, “People tend to choose sales conference destinations, for example, on the basis of where they would like to meet – Dubai last year, New York or Barcelona this year – rather than the most cost-effective place. Our new scenario modelling tool makes savings easier to identify, as it uses an individual company’s unique travel information and then advises on the most cost-effective city to hold a meeting or event.”

HRG Consulting’s new tool combines a client’s specific events and meetings data with its hotel programmes in order to get the best possible savings. The technology then uses this information with broad industry search criteria, such as 24-hour and day delegate rates, average spend on 3,500 routes and transient hotel rates.

David Battley, HRG’s Director of Events & Meetings Management, says, “As most event agencies work nationally or regionally, large companies are asking TMCs to provide Strategic Meetings Management Programmes globally. HRG is at the forefront of this delivery, offering leading-edge technology and a universal service spread to clients.”
