Hotels.com launches Xtreme Booking 2

A fun video campaign on internet shows how easy it is to book hotels.com even in the most desperate situations…

Hotels.com  ‘unleashed’ last week the second video in its Xtreme booking series – Xtreme Booking 2. The 2012 update features former freestyle motocross rider and member of Nitro Circus, Andy Bell, booking a hotel on the run in Pamplona, Spain… whilst racing to stay ahead of the stampeding bulls.

Focused on highlighting just how quick and simple the Hotels.com app is to use, Andy is featured booking his hotel whilst taking part in the annual San Fermin ‘running with the bulls’ festival eventually escaping the stampede by ducking into his chosen hotel. With 70% of Hotels.com’s mobile bookings made on the day of stay, Xtreme Booking really does show the speed and efficiency of booking on-the-go into one of the almost 155,000 hotels featured on Hotels.com.

The new video follows in the footsteps of the 2011 Xtreme Booking viral video which saw renowned skydiver JT Holmes booking into the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort, whilst parachuting onto the properties beach. Andy chose and booked into the Hotel La Perla in Pamplona in just two minutes with four quick clicks, equaling the time set by skydiver Holmes in 2011. To watch Andy take on this unique challenge visit the Hotels.com You Tube channel.

Nigel Pocklington, Chief Marketing Officer for Hotels.com comments, “Our mobile app is industry leading in terms of choice of hotels, ease of use and speed of booking. Building on the 2011 theme of extreme booking we have taken it to the next level in 2012. The new video demonstrates that even in the most stressful settings the Hotels.com app can help you find the perfect hotel.”

Andy added, “It worked! In a two hundred yard sprint, with ten two thousand pound animals on my heels, I booked a hotel room on Hotels.com and got the confirmation, mission accomplished! Coming into this, I did not know if it was possible to book the hotel during the run. I use Hotels.com to book all my travel anyway, but I’ve never booked it on the fly.”

The Hotels.com app launched in May 2011 for iPhone and Android, in September 2011 for iPad and March 2012 for Windows Phone 7. In June 2012 a new version of the iPad app was released featuring a contextual home page which changes based on the user, including showing upcoming bookings, Welcome Reward status or surfacing local deals. Other updates to the app include high resolution retina images and improvements to the map function.
