The upper levels of The Peak Tower ahead of a scheduled soft opening to the public on 1 September 2006 were revealed, following an extensive revitalisation of one of the city’s leading tourist destinations. Speaking at the press launch from the rooftop of The Peak Tower, The Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels, Limited’s Group General Manager – Properties and Clubs, Martyn Sawyer, stated that a diverse range of entertainment attractions coupled with an arresting mix of retail outlets and local and international food and beverage locations are guaranteed both to elicit high visitor interest and extend time spent at the facility.

“We expect The Viewing Terrace to be a key attraction, and a vantage point from which visitors will be able to enjoy stunning 360-degree panoramic views across Hong Kong, “ he said.

The combined and varied attractions signal a new era both for The Peak Tower and for the “must see” ports of call on the itineraries of visitors to Hong Kong, already acknowledged as the region most popular destination.

State-of-the-art lighting effects will illuminate The Peak Tower at night and will also be the highest elevation night-time feature of Hong Kong’s spectacular and internationally famous skyline.

A year-round calendar of diverse and lively events is also planned.
