Hong Kong Airlines celebrates flight to Auckland, New Zealand

On arrival at Auckland Airport on 11th November 2016, all passengers, flight crew and representatives of Hong Kong Airlines received a warm welcome following flight HX021. Auckland Airport organised a traditional water cannon salute, followed by a ribbon and cake cutting ceremony to commemorate the inaugural flight.

HONG KONG – Hong Kong Airlines, the internationally-acclaimed fullservice airline, made its inaugural daily direct service to Auckland, New Zealand on 10 November. Airbus A332 aircraft with 283 seats, including 24 business class seats was deployed on the route. To commemorate the official launch of this new route, Hong Kong Airlines held celebration events at both Hong Kong International Airport and Auckland Airport
 
All passengers scheduled to depart the inaugural flight from Hong Kong, were presented with a commemorative certificate and boarding pass envelope to mark the occasion and show gratitude for their support of the new route.

In his speech at the welcome ceremony, Mr. Li Dianchun, Chief Commercial Officer of Hong Kong Airlines said, “We are delighted with the successful launch of this much-anticipated new route in Auckland. So far, we have received an overwhelming response from travellers since tickets became available for purchase. As a result, we have already increased our service to 10 times weekly from 11th December 2016 to 13th February 2017. We also anticipate strong demand out of the New Zealand market to Hong Kong and connecting on our network in Asia. We hope that our new route will further strengthen the cultural, tourism and business ties between these two countries.”

To celebrate the launch of direct flight services between Hong Kong and Auckland, Hong Kong Airlines also extends the scope of its student sponsorship program, Hong Kong Airlines Embrace the World Student Sponsorship Program 2016/17, to New Zealand by giving away 20 air tickets to students at the School of Hospitality and Tourism at Auckland University of Technology (AUT). Through the sponsorship, young adults are encouraged to achieve their dreams of flying high.
