Hello Sydney – new BESydney partnership to drive more international shoppers to Mirvac retailers

Catering for all shopping needs, Mirvac Retail provides unique customer experiences with late-night trading hours, a VIP shopping service, branded and artisan products, bespoke cooking demonstrations, dining options and fun family activities.

Sydney retailers are taking advantage of growing international visitor numbers and spending with a new strategic partnership between Business Events Sydney (BESydney) and Mirvac Retail.

International business events delegates are a boon for local retailers. Our Asian incentive research shows that shopping is one of the top four activities delegates enjoy in Sydney, and these high-yielding visitors spend up to 6.5 times more than leisure tourists,” said BESydney CEO, Lyn Lewis-Smith.

One of Australia’s premier retail centre operators, Mirvac Retail, owns and manages a dynamic portfolio of shopping centres across Australia’s eastern seaboard, including Sydney’s popular Harbourside Shopping Centre – Darling Harbour, Birkenhead Point Outlet Centre and Tramsheds Harold Park.

Catering for all shopping needs, Mirvac Retail provides unique customer experiences with late-night trading hours, a VIP shopping service, branded and artisan products, bespoke cooking demonstrations, dining options and fun family activities.

Mirvac Retail is all about creating value and meaningful experiences for our customers, both domestic and overseas. Our Hello Sydney! card, launched in January 2016, is an exclusive offering to visitors of Sydney and provides special offers and discounts in addition to our new ferry service, Shopper Hopper –a new, multi-dimensional shopping, dining and tourism experience on Sydney Harbour which concludes at our premium outlet shopping centre, Birkenhead Point,” said Paul Pozzobon, National Marketing Manager, Mirvac Retail.

According to a recent Deloitte report “Year of the Tourist” the number of foreign tourists visiting Australia is at record highs and spending is rapidly increasing. During the 2015-16 financial year, tourist expenditure totaled around $130 billion, retail spending accounted for around 39.7 per cent of this expenditure.

Lyn Lewis-Smith says in addition to driving valuable retail sales, the partnership adds a depth of collaboration to the city’s portfolio of partnerships that benefit international business events delegates.

We are thrilled to welcome Mirvac Retail to our portfolio of over 30 strategic partners. Together with our partners we offer value propositions second to none for our international business events delegates. These partnerships are key to ensuring Sydney remains Australia’s most attractive destination for international business events, and provides unique experiences for our welcomed guests,” said Ms Lewis-Smith.

To date, for 2017 BESydney has secured events that will attract over 47,000 international delegates to Sydney, including 25 Asian incentive events that will attract over 22,000 delegates.
