Hansar Samui introduces Scholarships for local students

Hansar Samui’s vision is to provide immediate and relevant support by producing vocational graduates who are ready to participate locally in the global marketplace, with a competitive advantage.

Hansar Samui has a strong commitment to CSR and supporting the local community, especially the youth of today who are the leaders of tomorrow. The hotel’s management and staff are also totally involved in a range of initiatives that include raising funds through guest donation programs and selling produce from the hotel’s organic garden. These funds have been used to buy supplies to support local schools and children.

The latest CSR program to be offered by Hansar Samui is to introduce a scholarship for 12-15 students at a time, who will undergo a comprehensive year-long syllabus consisting of theoretical and practical studies with intensive on the job training. Classes will include English, customer service, finance and management as well as practical job training. Each student will have a one on one mentor/coach with a member of the hotel’s management team.

The Scholarships will be provided free of charge and Hansar Samui will provide each student with accommodation for those unable to commute from their family homes due to distance, uniforms and three meals a day.

Upon graduation, the hotel will hold a celebratory ceremony for the students and assist them with finding employment either within Hansar if there are positions available, or elsewhere in other hotels.

The selection process for candidates will include written tests and for shortlisted candidates, an interview with their family.  Students will get training in all aspects of the hotel operation including kitchen, front office, housekeeping, administration, food and beverage, spa and back of house.
