Hakone Hotel Kowaki-en’s Japan Fair to delight international visitors begins

Located in the center of the Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park with breathtaking scenery as a backdrop, Hakone Hotel Kowaki-en offers a mixture of traditional Japanese-style hot spring facilities and hospitality as well as modern amenities and various entertainments.

TOKYO – Starting July 16th, Hakone Hotel Kowaki-en, Japanese hotelier Fujita Kanko Inc.’s luxury Japanese hot spring (onsen) resort in Hakone, Japan, will begin offering Japanese summer-themed activities and events, especially targeting international guests.

Located in the center of the Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park with breathtaking scenery as a backdrop, the resort offers a mixture of traditional Japanese-style hot spring facilities and hospitality as well as modern amenities and various entertainments. The resort is also known for its vast property with majestic Japanese botanical gardens, historical architecture used as restaurants and its sister facility, Hakone Kowaki-en Yunessun, a hot spring-themed amusement park next door.

Due to its proximity to the greater Tokyo metropolis (approximately a 2-hour drive) and Mount Fuji, Hakone, a notable hot spring town, has been a popular vacation spot in Japan for decades. Hakone has been designated as a Geopark by UNESCO, and there are numerous tourist attractions around the area, including many museums.

“As Hakone has increasingly been attracting more international visitors, we want to make sure that our international guests can experience aspects of Japanese culture that they might not otherwise have the chance to,” said Shinsuke Yamashita, General Manager of Hakone Hotel Kowaki-en. “Our staff have undergone special training to provide the most authentic experience possible.”

Guests will be able to try a popular summer custom in Japan, wearing “Yukata,” an informal cotton kimono frequently worn at festivals, and will have a choice of stylish yukata to rent or purchase, with trained staff available to help dress them properly.

Other summer specials include:
– Odawara Paper Lantern Workshop
– The Sounds of Japanese summer, furin wind chimes
– Sake Cocktails at the Bar Lounge
