Hainan Airlines honored as SKYTRAX Five-Star Airline for 3rd Time

Hainan Airlines adopted the SKYTRAX star-rating mechanism in 2008, and was the first mainland Chinese airline to be awarded the SKYTRAX four-star status in 2009, significantly boosting the airline's service brand.

BEIJING – On April 22nd, Hainan Airlines Co., Ltd. was honored as the SKYTRAX Five-Star Airline for the third time in a row at an press conference themed “Brilliant 20 Years, Shinning Five Stars”, held at Tangla Beijing.

At the conference, Hainan Airlines Chairman Chen Ming launched the airline’s new tagline, “Cherished Experience “. On the occasion of Hainan Airlines’ 20th anniversary, the event highlighted the carrier, known in Chinese as “The Beauty of the Orient,” and which is in a notably prosperous period, while reviewing the company’s 20-year legacy.

“From the service spirit expressed in our first tagline ‘We Are at Your Service’ in our early days, to the service concept of ‘New Image’, ‘The Customer Is First’ has always and consistently been the essence and the model of Hainan Airlines’ service mantra. Our goal is to build Hainan Airlines into an international brand as the ‘Beauty of the Orient’,” said Hainan Airlines chairman Chen Ming.

“Today, I’m very excited to come to Beijing to announce Hainan Airlines winning the SKYTRAX Five-Star Airline award for the third time in a row. The airline has been adhering to five-star standards, and will continue pursuing excellence,” said Edward Plaisted, Chairman of SKYTRAX, a globally recognized aviation research organization.

Hainan Airlines adopted the SKYTRAX star-rating mechanism in 2008, and was the first mainland Chinese airline to be awarded the SKYTRAX four-star status in 2009, significantly boosting the airline’s service brand. In 2010, Hainan Airlines applied for the SKYTRAX five-star rating, involving a performance evaluation of 75 flights spanning 448 flight hours and landings and take offs at 19 airports. The airline received the SKYTRAX Five-Star Airline award in both 2011 and 2012. Since then, Hainan Airlines has launched a wide range of new onboard services. In two extensive evaluations in November 2012 and March 2013, Hainan Airlines’ services won wide applause from the jury, and was finally honored the award for the third time.
