Plans for TFWA Asia Pacific travel retail and duty free exhibition in May are well advanced with over 80% of the exhibition space in the Singapore Suntec Centre already sold, nearly 170 exhibitors confirmed and more in the pipeline.

Top of the news is that among the companies exhibiting for the first time is Shanghai Tang, a well-known Asian fashion and accessories brand, and Pernod Ricard, present for the first time at the Asian exhibition since purchasing Allied Domecq last year. Big names returning after a short absence are electronics giant Sony Marketing Japan Inc and Philip Morris.

Among the internationally recognised names present will be Aigner, Bacardi-Martini Asia Pacific, Escada, Hermes, Hugo Boss, JTI, Imperial Tobacco, Maxxium Global Travel Retail, Parfums Christian Dior and Puig Beauty & Fashion.

Many important Asia Pacific companies will also be there including Crossfor jewellery from Japan, Derewala jewellery (India), FITS fragrances (Japan), Korjo Travel Products (Australia), Le Lumiere jewellery (Hong Kong), Paton’s Macadamia confectionery (Australia), Tian Li International tobacco (Hong Kong).

Besides the usual exhibition space, 300 square metres have been set aside for a special exhibition of cutting edge, trend-setting products from various categories of products including fashion accessories, home decoration, etc. More details concerning this new area will be announced shortly.

A busy social programme is being finalised to help brands, both new and regular, to network with the incoming visitors. In addition to the familiar buyers, agents and distributors from international duty free and travel retail outlets who will be welcomed at the show, there are expected to be representatives from at least 20 of the world’s key airports whose visit to the exhibition will coincide with their attendance at the Gate One conference (15-17 May, Singapore Suntec).
