Accor has added the Grand Mercure Park Avenue to the brand’s fast growing network in Asia, with a prime location on Bangkok’s Sukhumvit Road.

According to Accor Asia Pacific Managing Director Michael Issenberg, the expanding Grand Mercure network around Asia gives the hotel an added market advantage in Bangkok’s competitive hotel sector.

“Grand Mercure Park Avenue is strategic addition that will help raise the brand profile in Thailand and around the region.

“Sukhumvit Road is a hub of Thailand’s resident foreign community and is popular with both leisure and corporate travellers. Grand Mercure Park Avenue will be well positioned near fashionable shopping centres and popular tourist attractions, in addition offices of major multi-national companies doing business in Thailand.”

Grand Mercure Park Avenue joins a vast network of over 750 Mercure hotels in 45 countries.

Accor has aggressively expanded the Mercure brand in Asia Pacific the last two year with over 50 hotels now currently operating around the region. In Thailand Accor recently announced two new Mercure hotels on Phuket, Mercure Patong and Grand Mercure Karon, both scheduled to open late 2007. This year Accor also added Grand Mercure Fortune Bangkok and Mercure Pattaya, joining Mercure Chonburi on the country’s eastern seaboard.

Around Asia the first two Mercure hotels in China, Grand Mercure on Renmin Square Xian and Mercure on Renmin Square, opened mid 2005. They joined the Grand Mercure Roxy Hotel in Singapore and three around Indonesia Grand Mercure Yogyakarta, Mercure Resort Sanur – Bali and Mercure Convention Centre Jakarta. Mercure Ginza Tokyo in Tokyo’s top shopping and entertainment district complements Mercure Hotel Narita as twin properties in Japan.
