Go Ape appoints Consense for online consultation across the globe

Consense has been appointed by tree top adventure company, Go Ape, to develop a number of online consultation websites for a series of proposed new courses across the UK, US and Australia. This is the first project Consense is undertaking in the leisure industry. It will allow Go Ape to communicate their plans to local communities in an informative and transparent way; gathering feedback and comments that will provide valuable input for the planning process.

2009 National Business Awards winner, Go Ape, construct and run high-wire obstacle courses in forests throughout the UK, and are planning to build a course in the Bidjigal Reserve, near Sydney and another in Itchen Valley, Hampshire. Go Ape (Australia) was set up in early 2009, drawing on the knowledge and experience from the UK to spread the Go Ape message. The Bidijigal Reserve development is the first of a number of planned courses that Go Ape (Australia) is aiming to implement by 2012.

Jessica Topham, Operations Director for Consense, says, “We have created an online consultation master system that allows Go Ape to manage content and community feedback across multiple websites from just one central area. Our system can be used for any situation where accessible, interactive and auditable engagement is required and is ideal for Go Ape’s national and international expansion”.

Ben Davies, Business Development Manager at Go Ape, comments, “One of our key objectives is to engage with the local communities, here and abroad, at all stages of a project to ensure we understand and address their queries. The innovative system developed by Consense will enable us to involve a broader range of the community in each project and really help with the overall planning process.”

Consense is the UK’s leading provider of online consultation and has managed to double its client base in just one year (which includes, alongside Go Ape, Sky and ScottishPower Renewables). The innovative system developed by Consense helps businesses to involve more of the community in their proposals. So far, Consense has developed online consultations for Go Ape’s Itchen Valley and Bidjigal proposals, and also for its first US-based course, Rock Creek Regional Park outside of Washington DC.

To date Consense has helped renewable energy developers, house builders and public sector bodies to run wide-reaching, successful community consultations. The team at Consense also manages a variety of other consultation strategy and support activities such as political audits, public exhibitions, newsletters, advertising and PR.
