GHC appointed as innternational PR partner for Singapore’s new Heritage hotel

Grebstad Hicks Communications (GHC), a specialist in the promotion of luxury lifestyle, hospitality and travel, has been appointed international PR partner for Singapore’s soon-to-open heritage hotel, Hotel Fort Canning.

Once used as a base for the British Far East Command during World War II, the majestic colonial building which dates back to 1926 is now the coveted address for Hotel Fort Canning, a collection of 86 individually styled boutique suites and rooms.

Nestled among the lush greenery of Singapore’s Fort Canning Park, the hotel has been styled to offer the amenities of a 5-star ‘city resort’ in a one-of-a-kind park location.

The hotel’s 86 deluxe rooms and suites are being complemented by state-of-the-art recreation facilities including two full-sized swimming pools, an internationally renowned spa from THANN – the first in Singapore, outstanding restaurants and bars including Gattopardo Italian Grill and Pizza Bar by the Garibaldi Group of Restaurants, and extensive meeting facilities.

Each guest in residence will enjoy around-the-clock concierge services with staff equipped with the latest apple iPads. Rooms will be decked out with iPod docks, plasma screens and some items from award-winning furniture designer Poltrona Frau.

Complete with a new private members club, it promises to be one of the most prestigious addresses in Singapore.

Led by well-respected local architectural team, DP Architects, the property has retained a number of its original features including a grand entrance staircase and multi-columned facade.  It is Singapore’s only heritage hotel of its kind.

On the doorstep of Hotel Fort Caning is Fort Canning Hill – or Forbidden Hill – a local landmark since Singapore’s earliest recorded history. Once the site of residence for former Majapahit kings in the 14th century, it has also housed colonial governors including Sir Stamford Raffles. The hill has seen a number of key historic events including the surrender to the Japanese and Singapore’s first Botanic Garden. Nowadays it plays host to various cultural, entertainment and historical events including concerts and theatrical performances and is a much loved ‘green lung’ for Singapore’s downtown city area where hotel guests will be invited to take advantage of space and fresh air.

Despite its tucked away location, Hotel Fort Canning straddles not only the Orchard Road shopping belt and Clarke Quay entertainment hub both 5 to 10 minutes away, but the Central Business District and Civic District.
