Genting Hong Kong proudly presents “Yu Wen Tseng Exhibition 2013, Taiwan: Sparkle in Rhyme”

A unique showcase of jewellery and poetry inspired by travels.

HONG KONG and TAIPEI – Genting Hong Kong, the leading global leisure, entertainment and hospitality corporation, is proud to announce its second major art sponsorship in Taiwan – “Yu Wen Tseng Exhibition 2013, Taiwan: Sparkle in Rhyme”. To be held from 5 to 8 March, 2013 at Le Meridien Taipei, the exhibition will showcase the inspiring and luxury jewellery items by Tseng, a multi-talented artist dubbed “jewelry poet” for her gift and creativity in jewellery design and poetry. At the exhibition, her jewellery will be accentuated by her poetic ingenuity.

“Yu Wen Tseng Exhibition 2013, Taiwan: Sparkle in Rhyme” exhibition follows the successful painting exhibition “Yu Peng Exhibition 2011, Taiwan – Loyalist_Migrant_Hermit”, which showcased about a hundred ink, oil and pastel paintings from Taiwan’s celebrated artist Yu Peng.

Lawrence Huang, Vice President, Genting Hong Kong, said, “Genting Hong Kong takes pride in creating precious and romantic memories for our guests, be it cruise or resort holidays. Ms Daphne Tseng, who draws romantic inspiration from her frequent travels, is renowned for her romantic approach in delicate jewellery, riveting photography and writing. We are delighted to sponsor her exhibition as part of Genting Hong Kong’s ongoing effort to enhance understanding and appreciation of art. This exhibition is exceptionally meaningful for us as Genting Hong Kong celebrates our 20th anniversary this year, and we look forward to creating yet another enriching cultural event.”

To commemorate this occasion, Genting Hong Kong will also publish a special album that further captures Tseng’s inspiring creations.

Tseng, a Taiwan native, is the first local jewellery designer whose talent has been recognized by both Christie’s and Sotherby’s. Her artworks come with exuberant diversity and have won her a Golden Horse Award. The world of jewellery that she creates has been credited with sophisticated craftsmanship, refined inlay and metal techniques, inspiration literary presentation and unmatched romantic radiance. The renowned Taiwanese poet, Murong Xi, agrees that “the sophisticated beauty of Daphne’s jewelry works is fascinating. In those pieces which we consider almost perfect, she can always add just another colorful touch, or generate another enchanting layer of story.”

In “Genting Hong Kong Presents: Yu Wen Tseng Exhibition 2013, Taiwan: Sparkle in Rhyme”, Tseng centres her exhibition on the motif of journeys. Reflecting elements of reminiscence and romantic sentiments during travel, five collections are created: the Star, the Moon, the Color, the Cloud, and the Wind. The Star collection features charming diamonds and pearls, while the Moon collection pervades obscure and mysterious power of moonstones. In the Color collection, precious stones of all shades celebrate the festival of colors. The Cloud collection, a special tribute to Genting Hong Kong, showcases magnificent emeralds polished in oriental aesthetic imagery and western decorative techniques. In addition, the exhibition also presents earlier iconic works by Tseng in the Wind collection, which aims to unveil the refined and delicate ideas behind her breezy creation.

In this exhibition, the most anticipated artwork would be the “Moonlight Lovers” set, for which Tseng applies micro inlay techniques and creates a dazzling galaxy of numerous diamonds in a ultra-luxurious necklace. The versatile pendant, made of the most prestigious royal blue moonstone, can be turned into earrings or diamond necklace, multiplying its value and illustrating Tseng’s ingenuity. At the opening, another glamorous precious stone set made of unprecedented Burmese ruby will be unveiled, and it is expected to cause a sensation among collectors.

“Sparkle in Rhyme” not only features over a hundred jewellery artworks of Tseng, but also creates a spectacular gallery space for visitors to savor her diversified literary and photographic works in a romantic, sensory and special setting — starry sky high above or the azure sea deep down. An in-depth and interactive activity will be arranged for college students of art and design major. It will prove to be an exhibition that art lovers, travelers, and jewellery fans can’t miss.
