Garuda Indonesia adds 14.000 seats for Christmas and 2012 New Year holidays

In anticipation of increasing demands during the Christmas and New Year holidays, Garuda Indonesia added as many as 14.658 seats, divided on 54 additional flights and will be available from December 23 2011 till January 7, 2012.

Extra flights are available on the following routes: Jakarta – Denpasar vv. 26 extra flights (7.138 seats), Jakarta – Singapore vv. 22 extra flights (6.944 seats) and Surabaya – Denpasar vv 6 extra flights (576 seats).

Compared to last year, this year capacity of seats during Christmas and new year has risen by 24% or as many as 192.933 seats, comprising 162.981 seats on domestic routes and 29.952 seats on international routes.

Garuda Indonesia does not increase capacity on other flight routes as it has already increased flight frequency to several cities in Indonesia and abroad in mid 2011, among them: Jakarta – Medan, Jakarta – Denpasar, Jakarta – Balikpapan on the domestic sector, and 11 international routes, such as Jakarta – Sydney, Jakarta – Singapore, and Jakarta – Hong Kong.

To anticipate a surge in passenger volume during the holidays, Garuda formed a Passenger Service Implementation and Monitoring Team (TP-4)”, whose members are derived from various units in the company, particularly those related to flight operations. The airline is also carrying out a “flexible response” policy which monitors any development that may arise from the seat additions and enables quick response and ‘on the spot’ decisions.

Garuda has also increased the number of its ground handling staff and facilities at Cengkareng after coordinating beforehand with Gapura Angkasa and the airport’s authority, Angkasa Pura II to ensure seamless passenger handling.

To ensure a pleasant traveling experience, Garuda Indonesia appeals to all passengers to arrange their itinerary at their earliest convenience and avoid changing their schedules at a short notice. Passengers must take note of booking conditions and provide the same name on the ticket as the one printed on their identity card, to facilitate Garuda Officers when verifying the tickets. Passengers should also provide a phone number in the destination city which can be contacted by Garuda officers in case of any change of schedules.

Passengers are urged to make use of “city check-in” facilities available at Garuda sales offices and “self check-in” kiosks at Soekarno-Hatta Airport to avoid long queues at the airport check-in counters. To anticipate traffic congestion on the airport toll way, passengers are advised to reserve ample traveling time. Airport check-in counters are opened two hours prior to departure, and closed one hour before international departures and 45 minutes before domestic departures.
