Galileo International, a global distribution services company and subsidiary of Cendant Corporation announced it has received International Air Transport Association (IATA) Billing and Settlement Plan (BSP) approval to offer e-ticketing in the Philippines. Galileo has already commenced pilots with 22 travel agents in Manila with Northwest Airlines, Qantas, KLM, KLM Excel and Continental Airlines.

“Our aggressive rollout of e-ticketing across Asia Pacific continues with the Philippines joining 10 other markets where Galileo already offers this capability in this region,” said Janie Kaung, Executive Vice President and Managing Director of Galileo’s Asia Pacific region.“We are the region’s leader in e-ticketing and are actively implementing more airlines in markets where we already offer e-ticketing, as well as laying the foundations for introducing e-ticketing into other Asia Pacific markets.”

Mr Marcelito Jovida, Manager of IATA BSP in the Philippines, added: Galileo`s e-ticketing system has proven to be one that provides accurate reporting. We congratulate Galileo and welcome all moves to bring higher levels of automation to the Philippines travel industry as a means to making travel a smoother experience for the travellers themselves and as a way of increasing efficiency and reducing costs for travel agents and airlines.

Eddie Nuque, General Manager of Galileo Philippines, added: “Our subscribers all welcome the availability of e-ticketing on Galileo – and they are happy it is a reality in the Philippines. They understand the business benefits of e-ticketing and believe it opens new opportunities to increase revenues by expanding their sales reach and to reduce processing costs. They certainly want to be able to offer e-ticketing to their customers, who like the convenience and sense of freedom that e-ticketing brings.”
