Free access to online bookings extended for Australian tourism operators

The Booking Widget has been a successful project facilitating online bookings for small tourism operators who for the first time were trialling online bookings on their websites.

The Australian Tourism Booking Widget (Booking Widget), a government funded project delivered through the Australian Tourism Data Warehouse (ATDW) in partnership with its technology supplier V3, will remain free to access for Australian Tourism Operators in 2015.

The Booking Widget has been a successful project facilitating online bookings for small tourism operators who for the first time were trialling online bookings on their websites.

The overarching objective of the Booking Widget was to grow the online capabilities of Australian tourism businesses (including accommodation, tours, events and attraction sectors of the industry) through the provision of a simple and free online booking solution for Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) websites.

The 18 month project is due to end December 2014. However, as a number of tourism operators across Australia are utilising the Booking Widget as their principle means of online booking, ATDW and V3 have developed a transition plan to ensure minimum disruption to these tourism operators.

For tourism operators that have registered to use and activated the Booking Widget before 31st December 2014, V3 will now provide the existing services and support of ATBW free of charge to the operator for a further 12 months.
