Focus on Indonesia at ITB Berlin 2013

At ITB the spotlight is on Indonesia’s natural wonders and the unparalleled opportunities for holidaying on the world’s biggest archipelago. As the world’s leading travel trade show ITB Berlin is an ideal platform to showcase Indonesia in all its diversity to both trade visitors and consumers.

This year marks Indonesia’s 44th appearance at ITB and for the first time it is the official partner country of the show. Its slogan, “WONDERFUL INDONESIA: The World’s Heart of Wonders“, reflects everything that Indonesia stands for: its people, friendliness, cheerfulness, unrivalled hospitality, and the ever-present tradition of centuries-old wisdom.

At ITB the spotlight is on Indonesia’s natural wonders and the unparalleled opportunities for holidaying on the world’s biggest archipelago. There is much more to Indonesia than just Bali, which is why the partner country of ITB will be highlighting seven aspects in all: culture & traditions, nature & eco-tourism, leisure sports, cruises, gastronomy & shopping, spas & wellness and MICE events.

Comprising over 17,000 tropical islands, Indonesia is a treasure trove for making new discoveries, more than any other country in Southeast Asia: endless sandy beaches, scuba diving amid rich flora and fauna, pristine jungles, breathtaking volcanic landscapes, pulsating mega-cities and age-old traditions and cultures. Indonesia is made up of around 300 ethnic groups and more than 700 different cultures and languages.

As the world’s leading travel trade show ITB Berlin is an ideal platform to showcase Indonesia in all its diversity to both trade visitors and consumers.

In Germany, with which Indonesia has maintained close ties for 60 years, the tourism market continues to grow. Between January and December 2012 alone the number of Germany holidaymakers visiting Indonesia exceeded 152,401, an increase of 7.6 per cent. In 2013, the tourism ministry in Jakarta expects German tourist numbers to reach at least 180,000.
