Finnair to welcome SriLankan Airlines to oneworld® on May 1

Oneworld member airlines include airberlin, American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Finnair, Iberia, Japan Airlines, LAN, Malaysia Airlines, Qantas, Qatar Airways, Royal Jordanian and S7 Airlines, and around 30 affiliates. TAM Airlines and US Airways will join on March 31, 2014 and SriLankan Airlines on May 1.

Finnair is looking forward to welcoming SriLankan Airlines to the oneworld alliance on May 1. With SriLankan in oneworld, the national airline of Sri Lanka will offer Finnair Plus members the alliance’s complete range of services and benefits, including the ability to earn and redeem Plus points across SriLankan’s network of 32 destinations in 20 countries across Asia, Europe and the Middle East.

SriLankan Airlines is the first airline from the Indian subcontinent to enter any global alliance. The Colombo-based carrier’s addition will bring two new destinations to the oneworld network – Sri Lanka’s new Hambantota International (HRI) and India’s Tiruchirapalli (TRZ).

The airline received clearance to board oneworld after successfully completing a thorough review of its readiness conducted by Cathay Pacific Airways, which is sponsoring its entry into the alliance, with the oneworld central team.
