Festival fever in Australia’s outback Northern Territory

There are a number of exciting events coming up in the month of August this year in Northern Territory, Australia.

Escape the crowds of Singapore’s tourist season this August and head to the vibrant Northern Territory for one of the region’s unique summer festivals. With Darwin just a four and a half hour flight away, it’s easy to enjoy some fun in the outback.

From traditional music and art to a boat race with a unique twist, here’s just a taste of what you can experience during the month of August:

Darwin Festival: 7th – 24th August

Watch as the tropical capital of the Northern Territory comes alive during this 18-day festival, packed with theatre, dance, music, comedy and free outdoor events. Featuring Territory talent as well as artists from around the world, there’s something for the whole family to enjoy.

Henley on Todd Regatta: 16th August

A boating race like no other, this mock regatta takes place annually on the dry sandy bed of the Todd River in Alice Springs. Embrace the spectacle and cheer on the “rowers” as they race along the sand in bottomless yachts, boogie boards and even bathtubs!
