EMITT announces new partner country: Egypt

The organisers of EMITT, the East Mediterranean Travel & Tourism exhibition, have announced that Egypt will be the event’s partner country for 2010. In 2008, Egypt received 52,000 Turkish tourists – an increase of 18% over the previous two years.

Event Director, Hacer Aydin is delighted to welcome Egypt as the new partner country for EMITT 2010, “Egypt has long been a popular destination for Turkish tourists and its heightened promotional activity at next year’s event will undoubtedly support and strengthen the country’s efforts to increase arrivals from Turkey over the next few years. We look forward to working closely with Egypt in the run-up to the event”.

Egypt wishes to promote the fact that it is a country that caters for every type of holiday, offering a wide range of sights and activities, including spas, the desert, culture, adventure tours, leisure, sports, shopping, water sports, etc. Through its sponsorship of the exhibition, it hopes to strengthen relationships between the two countries and attract the attention of Turkish tourists and tour operators by increasing its promotional activities during the exhibition. Planned events include a press conference and an Egyptian night with traditional food and dancing. Visitors to the Egyptian stand will be offered presents and traditional drinks such as Karkadee and Tamr Hendy. Tanora dancers will also perform on the stand.

Nehad Gamal Eldin of the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism confirms the role that EMITT will play in the organisation’s long-term tourism strategy, “We have taken part in the EMITT fair every year since it started.  Our results from the show prompted our decision to sponsor the fair as ‘partner country’ […]. Our Ministry representatives will take part in the fair, alongside 15 tourism agencies from Egypt. By providing us with opportunities to cooperate with other countries and companies, EMITT 2010 will definitely prove an important forum for us”. He continued, “For Turks, Egypt has the capacity to offer much more than [pyramids and the Nile]. The EMITT fair is a great opportunity to show the values of Egypt to Turkey and the world”.
