The Diving Equipment & Marketing Association’s (DEMA) 2006 Scuba Tour schedule has been announced. The largest diver acquisition and promotional program of its kind, more than 12,000 people were introduced to the sport of scuba diving in the Scuba Tour pool in 2005 alone. The Tour offers the chance for people to try scuba diving in a way that is fast, convenient, and fun – and right in their own hometown.
During the first half of 2006 DEMA’s Scuba Tour has confirmed nearly fifteen stops at major events around the country that also draw thousands of potential diving consumers. The Tour’s first stops for 2006 will include January 13-15 at the Adventures in Travel Expo in New York, NY; January 20-22 at the World Vacation Expo in Boston, MA; January 28-29 at the L.A. Times Travel Show in Long Beach, CA; February 4-5 at the HI Watersports Expo in Honolulu, HI; and February 10-12 at the Adventure in Travel Expo in Washington, DC.
The 2006 Scuba Tour is sponsored by many companies including the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI), The Bonaire Tourist Office, Zeagle, Sherwood, DeepOutdoors and Ocean Technology Systems.
One of DEMA’s programs aimed at promoting awareness for the dive industry, The Scuba Tour makes stops throughout the year at various consumer-oriented travel, outdoor activity and adventure shows and provides the opportunity for anyone age 10 and up to discover the fun and exciting sport of scuba diving in the comfort of a tropically warm 27,000-gallon pool. Event attendees not only have the opportunity to try scuba diving for free, but also to test out some of the latest scuba equipment provided on-site and even have a photo of themselves taken underwater as a souvenir. At each event, equipment is provided and the Scuba Tour Pool is staffed by professional diving instructors from the local community.
DEMA, the Diving Equipment & Marketing Association, is an international organization dedicated to the promotion and growth of the recreational scuba diving and snorkeling industry. With more than 1,200 companies as members, this non-profit, global organization promotes scuba diving through many initiatives including consumer awareness programs, media campaigns and sponsorship of DEMA Show, a trade event open only to companies doing business in the scuba diving, action water sports and adventure/dive travel industries. DEMA Show 2006 will take place November 8 – 11, 2006 in Orlando, FL.
