Club Mahindra’s Chef Soundararajan honoured by World Association of Chefs’ Societies in Greece

Chef Soundararajan is the Corporate Executive Chef at Mahindra Holidays & Resorts India Ltd. and has 32 years of professional experience.

MUMBAI – Mahindra Holidays, India’s leading timeshare company, is proud to announce that its Corporate Executive Chef, Dr. Soundararajan Palaniappan, has been honoured with Honorary Life Membership by the World Association of Chefs Societies (WORLDCHEFS in short) for his extraordinary contribution to the hospitality and culinary industry and the Chefs’ profession in India.
 
He is one of only 105 chefs to receive this honour. Chef Charles Carroll, President, World Association of Chefs Societies, presented him with this citation at a special ceremony at the Worldchefs Congress held at Thessaloniki, Greece on September 24, 2016.
 
“I am delighted to receive this honour from Worldchefs which has played such a significant role in the education, training and professional development of chefs across the world. As India’s leading timeshare brand offering unique experiences to families through its resorts, Club Mahindra has provided me with a fantastic platform to showcase my culinary skills as well as mentor the next generation of chefs,” said Dr. Soundararajan, Corporate Executive Chef, Club Mahindra.
 
Speaking on the occasion, Chef Charles Carroll, President, Worldchefs, said, “The honorary member award is so special that it is awarded only to those culinarians who put in extraordinary efforts in their country to promote the culinary arts and to the Worldchefs’ mission. I am delighted and very happy to present Chef Soundararajan with this well-deserved honor during my tenure.”
 
The World Association of Chefs’ Societies or Worldchefs in short, is a global network of chefs’ associations first founded in October 1928 at the Sorbonne in Paris. Today, this global body has 100 official chefs’ associations as members that represent over 10 million professional chefs worldwide. The biennial congress is a hallmark tradition of Worldchefs and has been organised in over 20 cities across the world throughout its illustrious 82-year history.
 
Chef Soundararajan is the Corporate Executive Chef at Mahindra Holidays & Resorts India Ltd. and has 32 years of professional experience. As a chef-in-charge at Hyderabad house in New Delhi, the Official State House of the Prime Minister, he has catered for all the state banquets hosted by the Prime Minister and the Vice President of India. He has also been instrumental in forming the Indian Federation of Culinary Associations, India and is a recipient of the Golden Star Chef Award for extensive contribution to this field.
 
Additionally, he has received a number of other awards, including the Golden Hat award from the South India Culinary Association, India’s National award for “Best Chef of India 2009” for his contribution to the profession and the culinary art, an award from the World Association of Chefs’ Societies for his contribution to global cuisines and a certificate of appreciation in the International Salon Culinaire on Board the world’s no 1 luxury liner, the QE 2, etc.
 
He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Science, is a Graduate in Hotel and Catering Management and is certified in world cuisine from the Culinary Institute of America. He has also done a fellowship program at the St Nichollas University, Louisiana and is a WACS certified chef & a WACS B grade judge. Additionally, he holds an Honorary Doctorate from the Vels University, Tamil Nadu.
