Choice Hotels Rewards Programme reaches over 9m. members

Choice Hotels International, the global hotel group behind the Comfort, Quality, Clarion and Sleep Inn brands and one of the largest and most successful lodging franchisors in the world, announced that it had added more than 1.75 million new members to its Choice Privileges rewards programme this year. This brings the loyalty programme’s global membership to over 9.3 million members, a 75% increase in enrollment over 2008.

“Our company has seen the growing power of rewards programmes in attracting loyal guests to our value-oriented brands,” said Steve Joyce, President and Chief Executive Officer, Choice Hotels International. “That’s why this was a top initiative for 2009. We will continue to focus extensive energies toward making Choice Privileges the most valuable rewards programme in the industry.”

In 2009, the industry – as well as Choice Hotels – saw a significant increase in frequent travellers’ efforts to stay at properties within their favourite hotel rewards programme. Travel trends show that hotel loyalty programme members are increasingly focusing their stays on an individual programme that maximizes their value

Membership in the Choice Privileges rewards programme is free and offers guests the ability to earn points towards free nights while staying at any Choice Hotels brand property throughout the U.S. (including Hawaii), Canada, Europe, Mexico the Caribbean and Australasia*. Members can redeem points for free nights worldwide, as well as at luxury partner hotels, such as Preferred Hotels & Resorts, and through partners such as American, Qantas, Delta and Czech Airlines and car hire partners Avis Rent a Car and Budget Rent A Car.

The Choice Privileges rewards programme, launched originally in the US in 1998, was voted best of the best at the 19th annual Freddie Awards in 2007. The programme was launched in Europe last year.

*Excluding: Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway and Sweden. Including Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Papua New Guinea and Fiji.
