In order to celebrate the resumption of passenger service to Osaka, and the inauguration of passenger service to Sapporo, China Airlines held a ribbon-cutting ceremony, at Terminal 2 in CKS International Airport. The Minister and Deputy Minister from the Ministry of Transportation and Communications cut the ribbon at the ceremony, together with Legislators, the Chairman and President of China Airlines, Japanese diplomats, and officials from CKS International Airport.

“China Airlines once operated a regular Taipei-Osaka passenger service, and today, after 32 years, we are pleased to resume these flights,” said Mr. Philip Wei, Chairman of China Airlines, at the ceremony. “The honorable resumption of our Taipei-Osaka service has confirmed China Airlines’ target to build Taiwan into an aviation hub, and to further develop our global network. China Airlines will work tirelessly to provide the very best quality flights and services, to retain the support of each of our customers.”

Mr. Ringo Chao, President of China Airlines, also addressed the ceremony. “Sapporo is not a brand-new destination for China Airlines, because we operated more than 600 Kaohsiung-Sapporo charter flights in 2004 and 2005,” he noted. “And now, with the inauguration of this regular Sapporo service, China Airlines serves seven destinations in Japan. We provide high frequencies and plenty of capacity between Taiwan and Japan, and we welcome you to join us on a flight to Japan in the very near future.”
