Changi Airport sees highest passenger figures in 7 months

Changi Airport received 2.89 million passengers in July 2005, the highest figure achieved in the first seven months of 2005. July’s passenger volume marked an increase of 8.2% over the same month last year.

More significantly, the July 2005 traffic figures inched 3.3% higher than the previous month of June where passenger numbers are traditionally higher as a result of the school holidays in Singapore.

So far this year, 18.3 million passengers have passed through Changi Airport, representing a 7.4% climb over the corresponding period last year.

Meanwhile, Changi Airport handled 154 thousand tonnes of airfreight in July 2005. This is a rise of 2.2% compared to July 2004. As a whole, Changi Airport handled 1.02 million tonnes of air cargo between January and July 2005 or 1.7% higher than the same period last year.

Changi Airport is currently served by more than 80 airlines connecting to over 170 cities in more than 50 countries, with more than 3,800 weekly flights.
