Biman Bangladesh Airlines to distribute domestic and international fares via Amadeus

New content agreement offers Amadeus travel agents access to a comprehensive range of fares and schedules from Biman Bangladesh Airlines.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Amadeus and Biman Bangladesh Airlines, the national carrier of Bangladesh, have signed a partnership that will enable the airline to distribute their fares via Amadeus’ extensive global network of travel agencies. Biman Bangladesh Airlines joins more than 470 airlines globally whose content is available on the Amadeus system.
Amadeus travel agents worldwide will now have guaranteed access to Biman Bangladesh Airlines’ full range of domestic and international fares, as well as group bookings. Under the agreement, Amadeus users will have access to the same Biman Bangladesh Airlines content and under the same conditions as that which the airline distributes to all other third party channels.
A spokesperson from Biman Bangladesh Airlines said, “Tourism is taking off in Bangladesh and with 2016 earmarked as the ‘Year of Tourism’ for the country, we are looking forward to enabling more travellers to visit our shores. Our agreement with Amadeus means more travel agents, and therefore more travellers, now have access to our seats and fares and can easily book their travel to, and within, Bangladesh.
Hazem Hussein, Executive Vice President, Airline Commercial, Amadeus Asia Pacific, added, “This is a very significant partnership for Amadeus as we continue to expand our airline distribution network in Asia. We have worked with Biman Airlines Bangladesh for a number of years and are pleased to take our partnership to the next level. Bangladesh was recently named one of the ‘Next Eleven’ emerging markets, so this agreement could not have been more timely. Amadeus is committed to continue bringing the best airline content to our travel agents.
Amadeus plays a critical role in the distribution space with 40.7% market share globally of travel agency air bookings.
