Best Western celebrates another year of growth in Asia

BWI currently operates a portfolio of 140 hotels across Asia and the Middle East. But over the coming year is expects to expand to more than 200 hotels, offering more than 30,000 modern guest rooms.

BANGKOK – Best Western International has celebrated another successful year of growth in Asia and the Middle East, with a major event at its brand new hotel in Bali.

The company’s 9th Asian & Middle Eastern Members Meeting saw senior management, hotel members, owners and other stakeholders join forces at the luxury BEST WESTERN PREMIER Sunset Road Kuta, Bali, from September 16-19, to look back on another 12 months of achievements and pave the way for the future growth of the company.

Throughout the four-day event, delegates heard keynote speeches from top BWI executives such as President & CEO David Kong, and Vice President of International Operations Glenn de Souza, as well as high-level guest speakers from companies including Google, TripAdvisor and STR Global.

Members also spent time with each other, sharing ideas and best practices, and were treated to an array of dinners and day trips, including a cruise to the stunning Lembongan Island. The event was topped off with a spectacular farewell dinner and a glittering ceremony to announce the winners of the 2013 Best Western Asian & the Middle East Awards.

Speaking at the event’s closing ceremony, Mr. de Souza said it was fitting that this year’s event was held in Indonesia, where BWI is expecting to almost sextuple its portfolio in the coming years.

“This week we have defined the future direction for our company, as we move into one on the most important and exciting periods in our history,” Mr. de Souza said. “And it is incredibly appropriate that we have done all of this in the surroundings of this incredible new hotel, BEST WESTERN PREMIER Sunset Road Kuta.

“The progression we have seen in Indonesia over the past few years is a stunning example of what this region is capable of. As hoteliers, we have an opportunity and a duty to provide travelers with accommodation that is not only comfortable and convenient, but also innovative and creative. So it has been incredible gratifying to see that creativity and innovation in action this week,” he added.
