Backyard Travel release new tour: Xian at a glance

Backyard Travel, Asia's innovative travel company, has released details of a new tailor-made tour entitled 'Xian at a Glance.

BANGKOK – Backyard Travel‘s four day, three night tour allows travellers the chance to discover ancient Xian, one of the most historical cities in China and home to the magnificent Terracotta Warriors, one of the greatest archaeological sites in the world.

The majestic Terracotta Warriors were only discovered 40 years ago and there are almost 10,000 life sized statues of soldiers, horses and chariots modelled on Emperor Qin’s army.  As well as full guided tour of the site the trip also includes visits to other interesting historical places around Xian including the striking Wild Goose Pagoda and the impressive Shaanxi History Museum.

Travellers are guided on an insider’s bicycle tour through the picturesque old town in Xian followed by a Chinese calligraphy course. Also included is a trip outside of Xian to the impressive Mount Houashan to enjoy the stunning views from its different peaks.

On the final morning there is a visit to the Tomb of Emperor Jiangxi which houses a number of figurines and unearthed statues that can be seen through the glass floors of each pit giving an idea of daily life during the Han Dynasty.

Visiting the Terracotta Warriors is an unforgettable experience and the sheer size of the site blows you away,” said Backyard Travel’s General Manager Maeve Nolan. “As a company dedicated to insider experiences and authenticity, it’s also wonderful to be able to offer travelers other unique excursions in Xian, especially the cycling tour through the old town, a personal favorite of mine.
