Creator of the “Cologne Absolue” olfactive family, Atelier Cologne invites travelers to experience its diverse fragrance wardrobe at its pop-up located at KLIA

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia – Atelier Cologne Travel Retail Asia Pacific announced the Southeast Asia airport debut of its pop-up concept at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). In collaboration with Malaysia Airports and Colours & Fragrances (C&F) under DR Group, the pop-up is now officially open till end February 2019 for arriving and departing passengers through the Satellite Building at KLIA.

The lively afternoon saw the attendance of more than 80 cologners* made up of personalities, media and partners including Mr Nazli Aziz and Ms Hani Ezra from Malaysia Airports, Dato’ Arshad Desa, Dr. Afendi Dahlan and Ms Amy Chew from Colours & Fragrances. Malaysia KOLs Preston Lee (@theprestonles) and Lucas Lau (@lucaseelau) and China KOL Qi Qi (靓靓) were also present to heighten buzz of the delightful occasion.

An Invitation to Experience Atelier Cologne

Inspired by Atelier Cologne boutiques found around the world, the pop-up gave cologners a preview into the maison’s trove of treasured emotions and powerful memories captured through the brand’s wardrobe of Cologne Absolues. Cologners mingled over canapes and refreshments as they discovered more about the brand’s history, the scent and stories behind each unique fragrance as well as a personalised fragrance profiling session conducted by Atelier Cologne fragrance experts to discover their very own scent. Cologners were also given the opportunity to customise the leather case of their 30ml fragrance bottles with their name or initials at the gift and engraving workshop.

For the launch of the event, the background of the pop-up was dressed up as a Parisian rooftop featuring a skyline of the elegant Paris, cobbled flooring and a rustic swing in the brand’s signature Venetian blue. This set-up will be available till end of December 2018 to allow Cologners to fully indulge themselves in the “Parisian rooftop” atmosphere.

A Delightful Shopping Experience at the Atelier Cologne Airport Pop-Up

Clad in Atelier Cologne’s signature Venetian blue, the pop-up reveals co-founder, Sylvie Ganter’s innate vision and talent for interior design and architecture. Similar to all Atelier Cologne boutiques around the world, the pop-up is furnished with vintage consultation tables, lamps, stools, an engraving machine and decorated with citrus plants, setting the stage for unique individual fragrance discoveries. A gift and engraving workshop is also offered to customers, allowing them the unique experience of personalising the leather case (available in over 10 different colours) of their perfume bottles with a name, initials or even a message. This customization service can be completed on-site with within a few minutes.

“At Malaysia Airports, we are committed to creating delightful experiences for travelers and visitors,” says Mr. Nazli Aziz, Senior General Manager for Commercial Services, Malaysia Airports. “We want to make our airports a must-visit shopping destination for everyone and not just as a transportation hub. Having an international and prestigious brand such as Atelier Cologne launch its Southeast Asia’s first airport pop-up concept at KLIA is a validation of Malaysia Airports effort in creating joyful experiences. In line with our Commercial Reset strategy to raise the retail profile of our international airports in Malaysia, we will continue to pioneer premium retailtainment concept and introduce highly desirable brands at KLIA to enhance the passengers’ retail experience.”

According to Nazli, the duty-free sales in the Asia Pacific region is growing significantly, largely driven by perfumes and cosmetics with a market value of USD 14 billion in 2017. As for KLIA, overall sales per passenger recorded a double-digit growth of 13 per cent in 2017.

“KLIA’s Satellite Building sees many cosmopolitan travelers every day,” says Ms Amy Chew. “The unique concept and design of Atelier Cologne’s pop-up is eye-catching, fresh and novel. The open space location within the building makes it an ideal spot for the brand to unveil their range of products to a new international audience. With the wonderful support of Malaysia Airports and strong partnership with L’Oreal, we are delighted to deliver this first pop up store in SEA airports. It is indeed a trinity partnership – airport authority, retailer and brand principal. The pop-up is designed to engage traveler’s sight, smell and touch. It will appeal to traveler’s need for personalised gifting and create meaningful experiences.”

“The French brand meets travelers’ desires when in search for a gift that is thoughtful, authentic, natural and personalisable,” says Mr. Tony Khajenouri, General Manager, L’Oréal Travel Retail Asia Pacific. “All of our Colognes Absolues are a moment in a bottle, making it the perfect gift. We believe that Atelier Cologne will create a story or a powerful memory for Malaysians and those travelling in.”
