Asian Live reopens at InterContinental Seoul COEX

Based on the theme "Asia Today & Tomorrow", the revamped interior at Asian Live features a modern interpretation of cultures and trends from the five countries, harmoniously blending international sensibilities with local characteristics using visual elements extracted from Asian food culture.

SINGAPORE – Asian Live, which opened its doors with the launch of InterContinental Seoul COEXin 1999, is scheduled to reopen on 5 April 2017 after an extensive two-month revamp. Asian Live is Korea’s only fine Asian restaurant where guests can enjoy diverse menu offerings from five countries at one table, including Korean, Chinese, Japanese, Indian, and Arabic cuisine. Since its opening, Asian Live has been well-received by local and international VIP visitors, business guests and families alike.

Revamped Interior
Based on the theme “Asia Today & Tomorrow”, the revamped interior at Asian Live features a modern interpretation of cultures and trends from the five countries, harmoniously blending international sensibilities with local characteristics using visual elements extracted from Asian food culture.

Visually appealing media displays, installed in every corner of the restaurant including its entrance and main hall, accentuate the liveliness of the kitchen area, while the restaurant’s kitchen and show kitchen section feature glass partitions to showcase the chefs in action, providing a fun and visually stimulating guest experience.

Located in the heart of the restaurant, the new sushi bar will cater to guests seeking a special experience in a more exclusive setting. Asian Live plans to host a “Weekly Sushi Bar” promotion on a specific day of the week, during which limited quantity sushi creations made with the finest ingredients will be served to eight patrons on a first-come, first-serve basis. It will also hold monthly sushi gala shows for a limited number of customers, offering the best sushi experience possible – complete with exclusive services, sophisticated menu offerings and premium ingredients.

Asian Live also features an impressive selection of 17 private rooms, which are available for business meetings and social gatherings. Depending on the occasion and scale of their meetings, guests can choose the size and design of the space, ensuring a satisfying dining experience.

Spanning approximately 1,207 square metres with 178 seats, the restaurant’s new interior was designed by CallisonRTKL, a world-leading design firm based in the United States. Founded in 1975, CallisonRTKL is one of America’s top design firms specialising in retail and commercial building design, with a portfolio that includes New York City’s World Trade Center and many restaurants in the world’s top-rated luxury hotels.

Refreshed Menu
Asian Live is the only luxury hotel restaurant in Korea that offers a modern, trendy and reasonably priced take on Asian cuisine from five countries. To ensure an authentic taste of the region, the restaurant has recruited resident Indian and Arabic chefs – a rarity amongst hotel restaurants in Korea. The restaurant also offers authentic dishes that promote wellbeing, made with healthy and fresh ingredients hand-picked based on the latest trends. Incorporating the six-year running Local Food Project, in which domestically cultivated top produce is personally selected by the Head Chef at InterContinental Seoul COEX, the international menu is complete with seafood from Wando, locally sourced meat, and other fresh seasonal ingredients.

In addition to the sensory pleasures derived from the food itself, the new menu offerings and serving methods also give customers the “joy of experience” via direct participation. Features include an expanded number of dishes that focus on visual elements and the customer’s final touch, along with menu items that propose different ways to enjoy the dishes. Several main entrees offer the “Respect Your Taste” option, in which guests can choose and customise dish size – small or regular – as well as taste intensity – less, normal, or more – giving customers a wider range of choices.

In addition, while the existing ‘5-in-1’ concept, comprising dishes from five countries at one table, allows customers to build a course from one cuisine type, a ‘5-mixed-in-1’ concept will be introduced, making it possible for guests to enjoy a variety of entrees from five countries in a single course.
