Asia Pacific visitor forecasts data for 2014-2018

The forecasts, which cover 38 destinations in the Asia Pacific region, provide greater details on international arrivals flow into each of these destinations at the discrete origin level on an annual basis.

Some of the key highlights of the Asia Pacific Visitor Forecasts 2014-2018 show:
  • Visitor arrivals to the Asia Pacific region are projected to increase from 521 million in 2014 to 670 million in 2018, with an average annual growth rate of 6.5%.
  • Arrivals from the Russian Federation to Asia Pacific are forecast to surpass the 10-million mark by end of 2016 from just below 6 million in 2013 with Thailand, China and Cambodia registering as the top 3 destination choices.
  • The Asia Pacific region will continue to enjoy an upsurge in arrivals from Korea (ROK) across-the-board with a few exceptions. By the end of 2016, total Korean arrivals to the region are predicted to jump across the 20-million barrier and thus overtaking Japan’s numbers.
