Asia Luxury Travel Market 2008 (ALTM) opens in Shanghai

Asia Luxury Travel Market, the region’s leading event aimed exclusively at the luxury end of the travel industry, begins today at the Shanghai Exhibition Centre.

The three day event will be twice the size of the inaugural 2007 show with over 1,000 leading travel industry suppliers, buyers and media attending the invitation only event.

All delegates and other luxury brand representatives have been invited to ALTM’s high-level conference, taking place today at the Shanghai Centre, at which key figures in the luxury travel and brand sectors will examine current and future travel trends.

ALTM 2008 will also host a line up of exclusive and glamorous networking parties.

The ALTM opening party takes place at Shanghai Sculpture Space on June 17 and is hosted in conjunction with Gulf Air, which is launching a new Shanghai route.

Hyatt Hotels & Resorts hosts an ALTM cocktail reception on June 18 at Hyatt on The Bund.

Jay Martens commenting on the show opening for the second time said: “We are delighted with the response the show has received in its second year and believe it has a big role to play in shaping the way the luxury travel industry develops in the Asia Pacific region.”

“It will, and already is, a catalyst for bringing all kinds of luxury travel specialists out of the woodwork by giving them a forum where they can easily meet and interact. I predict we will see the emergence of many more specialist players in the luxury travel industry in Asia too now that ALTM gives them the opportunity to thrive,” he added.
