ARINC presents VeriPaxTM Passenger Reconciliation System

The increased importance of airport security and the transition to self-service and off-site check-in have created the need for an efficient means of authenticating passenger boarding passes. In response ARINC has developed the VeriPaxTM Passenger Reconciliation System which will be shown on the ARINC stand (no 1090) at Passenger Terminal Expo 2010, Brussels, from 23-25 March.

VeriPax is a handheld device that combines powerful, automated security screening with passenger reconciliation in real time. Able to detect and highlight duplicate boarding passes, Veripax allows airport security to authenticate passenger boarding passes in seconds by validating their status against the airline’s system. Cathay Pacific became the launch customer in 2009 for Veripax, which has now been fully deployed by the airline at Singapore’s Changi Airport.

VeriPax can be customized to meet the airline or airport’s specific needs and can perform other types of identity checks.  It can validate passenger names against a “watchlist” database or check passenger itineraries against valid flight schedules for the day. It can also be integrated with local and external data sources, including biometric security applications, to deliver more robust screening and verification.

“With security processes at most airports currently being manual, VeriPax enhances security at checkpoints while improving passenger flow” said Will Faas, ARINC Product Management, Airport Systems.

The VeriPax system supports the industry’s transition to 2D bar-coded and plain paper boarding passes, in line with IATA’s Simplifying the Business initiative.
