ARINC together with its regional communications partner Bird Consultancy Services (BCS) launched ARINC GLOBALinkSM VHF data link communications at four major airports in India. The companies have deployed new VHF air-ground stations at New Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, and Mumbai airports. The service launch represents ARINC’s first GLOBALink VHF coverage in the sub-continent.

“This marks a significant milestone in our expansion plans for GLOBALink in Asia Pacific, and in our ability to offer more customers the benefits of Data Link services,” said Randy Pizzi, Vice President and Managing Director, ARINC Asia/Pacific. “I am very pleased to share this moment with our partners, BCS, who have been invaluable in helping launch GLOBALink service in India.”

Ankur Bhatia, Executive Director of Bird Consultancy Services, added, “This announcement strengthens our commitment to the aviation market in offering customers a wide range of services and the ability to harness future technologies to help raise their operational efficiencies, while keeping costs low.”

ARINC has more than 190 VHF Remote Ground Stations in the Asia Pacific region, providing airline operational communications as well as supporting air traffic services. Each ground station supports several hundred square miles of airspace. BCS provides coordination and assistance in the deployment and operation of the four Indian VHF stations, including “First Call” maintenance.

ARINC and BCS are looking into other rapidly emerging markets in India for the introduction of GLOBALink and other aviation communication services.
