Amazing Ngapali Resort in Myanmar received ASEAN Green Award

A Green Hotel is one which is environmentally friendly and employs energy conservation measures. Green Hotels must have an environmental plan, use green products and provide training for the staff in energy conservation and environmental management.

MYANMAR – Located on a wide sweeping beach in Ngapali, Rakhine State, Myanmar, Amazing Ngapali Resort was recently honored with the coveted ASEAN Green Award. Hlaing Hlaing Win, General Manager of the Amazing Hotels and Resorts, accepted the award at the ASEAN Tourism Forum 2014 held in Kuching, Malaysia.

The ASEAN Green Award recognizes those who have met the ASEAN Green Hotel Standards. A Green Hotel is one which is environmentally friendly and employs energy conservation measures. Green Hotels must have an environmental plan, use green products and provide training for the staff in energy conservation and environmental management. Use of local products and involvement in the community is also an important element.

Amazing Ngapali Resort has well-maintained grounds with a multitude of plantings including many coconut palm trees from which the coconuts are harvested and used as welcome drinks for arriving guests. Locally made products are found throughout the resort including uniquely Myanmar lacquer ware sinks in the bathroom of accommodations and serving dishes in the dining room.  Staff participates in local community service projects such as picking up litter along the beach and roadways. A variety of ongoing environmental friendly procedures are in place.

It should be noted that Amazing Ngapali Resorts also won the ASEAN Green Hotel Standard Award on previous years. Plus it has won TripAdvisor’s Traveler’s Choice Award and is number six on the Top 25 Best Hotels in Asia and number 16 on the Top 25 Hotels for Best Service in Asia.
