The front landing gear of one All Nippon Airways plane failed to descend on Tuesday 13th of March in Japan forcing the airline to halt its entire fleet of Bombardier planes on the ground. The aircraft made an emergency landing without anyone being injured at Cochi’s airport in south – western Japan.

There were 60 passengers on board all well in the health. The Bombardier DHC-8 landed on its rear wheels and touched down the runway with its nose.

This incident is the latest of a series of problems that ANA faced with the particular type of aircraft. In February 2006, another Bombardier plane operated by ANA experienced landing gear problems.

The ANA’s aircraft took off from Osaka in western Japan heading to Cochi in Sikokou Island in the south – western Japan.
