Alaska Airlines begins flying from Oakland and San Jose, Calif., to Honolulu

Alaska Airlines inaugurates nonstop daily service between the Bay Area and Hawaii, adding Honolulu to the list of island destinations the carrier serves from Oakland and San Jose, Calif. The carrier already serves Kauai, Maui and Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii from both cities.

With the increased service, Alaska Airlines now offers 35 flights a week from the Bay Area and Sacramento, Calif., to Hawaii. Since October 2007, Alaska Airlines’ service to Hawaii has grown to 22 daily flights from eight cities on the Mainland.

“Honolulu is the vibrant epicenter of Hawaii, with everything from historic landmarks, treasured monuments, a flourishing arts and culture scene and world-class beaches,” said Joe Sprague, Alaska Airlines’ vice president of marketing.

Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air, subsidiaries of Alaska Air Group, together serve more than 90 cities through an expansive network in Alaska, the Lower 48, Hawaii, Canada and Mexico. Alaska Airlines ranked “Highest in Customer Satisfaction Among Traditional Network Carriers” in the J.D. Power and Associates 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 North America Airline Satisfaction Studies(SM).
