World Travel Market has linked up with IATA, ChinaContact and Travolution to run three high profile conferences at this  year’s event.

Airlines

For the past three years World Travel Market has highlighted the vital role the airline sector plays in the international travel and tourism industry. For the first time WTM has linked up with IATA to produce an exclusive conference that will help solidify the partnerships that already exists between the airlines and the travel and tourism value chain by looking into future trends and developments

‘Synergies for Future Growth – Aviation and Travel and Tourism: Partners in the same industry’ is a two day conference running on Tuesday 7 and Wednesday 8 November.

The keynote address will be delivered by IATA’s Director General and Chief Executive Giovanni Bisignani with presentations on topics ranging from regulatory developments, collaborations and the future for travel intermediaries as well as case studies from the likes of British Airways.

An impressive line up of speakers include Francesco Frangialli, Secretary-General, World Tourism Organization; John Korenic, Director of Aviation Marketing, Vancouver International Airport Authority; Alison Carse, e-ticket Implementation, British Airways;  Tim Jeans, Managing Director, Monarch Scheduled; Iain Webster, Senior Loyalty Manager, Qatar Airways; Tony Milsom, Director, flythomascook.com; Walt Judas, Vice President Marketing Communications and 2010 Strategies, Tourism Vancouver; Richard Beere, Director, International Marketing Tourism, Tourism Australia; Wallop Bhukkanasut, EVP Commercial, Thai Airways; Giorgio Callegari, Vice President Alliances & International Relations, Alitalia; David Roche, Vice President, hotels.com and Carlos Grau Tanner, Director Government and Industry Affairs, IATA.

China

The first pan-industry conference on bilateral tourism relations between China and Europe – ‘China: The Future of Travel’ – organised with ChinaContact takes place on Monday 6 November on the opening day of the event.

Delegates to the conference will learn about China’s often complex cultural and business practice smoothing the way for the international travel and tourism to engage more productively and successfully with China in the Future.

Topics to be covered will include the growth of Chinese tourism and its effect on Europe; the future of Chinese business tourism; investment opportunities and how to take advantage of them and China’s new products and destinations.

The conference is being supported by the World Travel & Tourism Council, VisitBritain, VisitLondon, Ukinbound and the China-Britain Business Council.

Online travel

The third conference running at World Travel Market concentrates on online travel organised with Travolution. ‘Travolution@WTM – Covering Travel in the Digital World’ brings together speakers from The Guardian to Google to address how the travel industry can benefit from new media in a consumer driven market.

Taking place on Tuesday 7 and Wednesday 8 November the first day will focus on a series of ‘learning’ seminars whilst the second day features keynote speakers and panel discussions.

Key speakers include Carsten Willert, General Manager, BA.com; Esteban Walther, Head of Travel Europe, Google; Nancy Lyndhurst, Product Manager for Travel, O2; Marc Charron, European Managing Director, TripAdvisor and Chris Nixon, General Manager & Head of Sales, Travelsupermarket.com.
