Effective 26 December 2006, AirAsia will commence its third (3rd) flight to Macau from Low Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT), Kuala Lumpur due to exceptionally high demand for the route. The airline is currently recording an average of 98% load for both of its daily flights for the route.

AirAsia is dedicating Airbus A320s for the Kuala Lumpur-Macau route. The airline is currently in the progress of phasing out the Boeing 737 aircraft and replacing them for an all new Airbus A320 fleet.

Kathleen Tan, Executive Vice President – Commercial, AirAsia Berhad, said, “The response towards this route has been phenomenal which has prompted us to add the third frequency to this city of entertainment. With new aircraft being delivered to us every month, it is an obvious choice for us to allocate an Airbus for this route to cope with the demand. In fact, we flew many Malaysians and tourists to Macau to watch the Macau Grand Prix which took place last month.”

“In view of Visit Malaysia Year 2007, we also hope to carry more guests to Kuala Lumpur. Our Macau flights are very popular among tourists connecting from Southern China, Hong Kong and Macau to Kuala Lumpur. It is certainly an apt timing for us to introduce the third flight now.”

“The economic benefits for both countries are tremendous with such an exchange of passenger traffic. We wish to thank Macau International Airport authorities and Macau Tourism for their support thus far and we hope to drive more people into Macau with our low fares,” concluded Kathleen.
