Air Astana rated as one of the world’s top 20 airlines

2014 Business Insider Airline Survey sees Kazakh flag carrier move up six places to #12.

The 2014 Business Insider Airline Survey has placed Air Astana amongst the world’s Top 20 carriers for the second year in succession, with its ranking improving to 12th compared to 18th in 2013. This latest ranking places Air Astana ahead of carriers including Etihad, Turkish Airlines, Garuda Indonesia, Cathay Pacific, Japan Airlines, Virgin Australia, Swiss and Austrian.
 
Business Insider’s experts evaluated the world’s long haul carriers, with maximum possible score of 100 points. Air Astana’s economy class experience based on Skytrax data gained 75 points, whilst on-time performance based on Flightstats.com data achieved 89 points.This on-time figure placed Air Astana ahead of Singapore Airlines, which was ranked #1 overall in the 2014 survey.
 
The Kazakh flag carrier has quietly carved out a sterling reputation for providing a quality in-flight experience along with an incredible on-time service record. Scoring a remarkable 89 on-time performance rating, Air Astana benefits from a combination of solid management, a young fleet of aircraft, and a network consisting of less congested airports,” stated Business Insider. 
 
Air Astana is a joint venture between Kazakhstan’s national wealth fund Samruk Kazyna and BAE Systems, with respective shares of 51% and 49%.
