Air Astana highly rated by Skytrax in eastern Europe

After a series of independent service delivery audits by the official World Airline Star Rating Programme, Skytrax Research, Air Astana is pleased to announce that it has been ranked third amongst carriers for the “Best Airline: Eastern Europe” award. No other carriers in the top three came from Russia/ CIS, which once again demonstrates Air Astana’s leadership in service standards in this region.

This latest Skytrax award follows the overall rating of Air Astana in March 2009 with 3-Stars, with its short haul Business Class being rated as 4-Star.

The full Star Rating determination examines more than 800 different areas of product and service delivery for each airline, where the ratings range from 1-Star (poor) to 5-Star (excellent).   Most of the world’s best known airlines are rated either 3 or 4-Stars, with a select few rated as 5 star.  Air Astana is one of only two airlines in Russia/CIS with a 3-Star rating.

“Air Astana has once again demonstrated its leadership amongst carriers from Russia / CIS in providing internationally recognised high standards of passenger service. Congratulations to all our dedicated and enthusiastic service delivery staff for their achievement, ” said Peter Foster, President of Air Astana.

Air Astana commenced regular flight operations on 15th May 2002 and currently operates a network that serves 21 domestic and 23 international destinations from its hubs in Almaty, Astana and Atyrau.  Air Astana flies an all western fleet comprising of two Boeing 767s, four Boeing 757s, ten Airbus A320 Family and six Fokker 50  aircraft. Air Astana is a full member of the International Air Transport Association and is the only airline in Kazakhstan with EASA Part 145 aircraft maintenance certification.
